Award Winning Publications & Programs

Publicity Plan and Articles for the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) - TLW Public Relations worked with CYSA’s 14-member board of directors and state office personnel to conduct research (including a constituent survey) and analysis of the organization’s current marketing strategies and, subsequently, develop a multi-component publicity and marketing plan.  The final document included mission, messages, print and broadcast suggested ads; recommendations for newsletter and web site design; recommendations for community outreach; a two-year time line, and suggested ways to evaluate or benchmark the success of components, among other information. The plan won a Hermes Creative Award for excellence from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). Our company also won AMCP awards for articles written for the association’s magazine and for a complete redesign/re-engineering of its massive website.

City Publications & Programs - In the City of Fairfield, TLW's Public Relations' owner Deloris Roach and her staff worked to create award-winning publications and programs, including California statewide awards for a revamped version of the city's newsletter and an annual calendar for residents. Also won national awards from the City County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) for these and other publications, and for the Community Awareness and Responsibility Education (CARE) program, a program for school children that the division created.

Events and More!

Mission Solano Bridge To Life Center Ground-breaking Ceremony - TLW Public Relations worked with the organization’s staff to conceptualize the event, develop an agenda; design print collaterals; secure speakers and vendors; and plan all logistics. We also developed/executed a publicity plan for the celebration that included pre and post media relations with local and regional print and broadcast media.  The invitation-only event was very successful.  It was attended by over 100 people, including city, county and state elected officials. Pre and post event media coverage included television, radio and newspapers.  Some invitees, who had attended several similar events across the country, described this one as the “most successful and best organized.”  A new release for the event won a Platinum Hermes Creative Award from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.

City and County Events - In the City of Stockton, events promoted by the head of TLW Public Relations, such as the city's annual 4th of July celebration, routinely drew crowds estimated at more than 90,000 people.

While working for Alameda County, she was instrumental in writing public information materials for County ballot measures (all of which were successful with voters); planning the County's 150th anniversary celebration and its remembrance program for the first anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks (held at the Oakland Coliseum); and planning other major events, such as the highly successful dedication of the new state of the art, $100 million dollar trauma center at Highland Hospital.

She also created the branding campaign for the County's beautification program for un-incorporated areas and helped plan highly successful community clean-up events. Ms. Roach also led the effort to create a new three-dimensional display to represent the County at the State Capitol in Sacramento, California, replacing a display that was more than 20 years old.

The Campaign for An All-America City

Working as Stockton's Public Information Officer, TLW Public Relations' owner Deloris Roach was a lead planner for the city's celebration of its first All-America City Award, a national award given by the National Civic League. She organized a group of public information and public relations officials from several agencies to put together a marketing plan touting the award. The effort led to Stockton's All-America City logo being placed on companies' buildings, on organizations' publications, on downtown banners and on California State Department of Transportation's freeway signs on major interstate highways (I-5 and I-99), at entrances to the city.

The campaign also included the Pepsi-Cola corporation producing 500,000 cans of soda with the logo on the can, for sale in the San Joaquin valley and adjacent regions. Ms. Roach was successful in getting all major newspapers, radio stations, network affiliates (ABC, NBC and CBS) and independent television stations to feature the city's numerous award-related activities in their news articles and on their news shows.

Award Winning Videos

While working with the County of Alameda, TLW Public Relations' owner partnered with 4Reels Digital Entertainment and its owner Tony Perrault to produce "In the Beginning," a short videotaped movie.
The video was used to open a day and a half long presentation for management personnel from various local, state and federal agencies, at the Inter-Government Management Training Program. The movie won a Savvy Program Award from the City County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA), a national organization.

Successful Media Relations and Radio Station Promotions

TLW Public Relations’ owner has been successful in getting unprecedented media attention for the programs, events and issues for her city employers. She arranged the first Media Managers Luncheon for the City of Stockton. News directors and station managers from all major television network affiliates (ABC, NBC, CBS) independent television stations; radio stations; and area newspapers attended the event.

Events promoted by Ms. Roach routinely get better than average media coverage. She has also worked with the top regional San Francisco Bay Area radio stations, including the most popular Hip Hop music station in the Bay Area, KMEL, to plan low-cost promotions for special events and programs.
